2009 EASTER COURSE
2008 Christmas Awards
The Market Rasen Junior Youth Band held their annual Christmas Concert at the Salvation Army Hall on Thursday 11th December. Most of the music was of a Christmas nature but some were old favourites of the band.
During the evening there was the presentation of trophies. This year the trophies were presented by John Ritchie, the bands chairman. The Adele Robinson Trophy (Left in the Picture) for the Junior Band Player of the year was presented this year to Aiden Ritchie on baritone. Ardele presented the trophy to the band after joining the band six years ago as an adult helper bringing her vast musical knowledge to help the Juniors. Unfortunately Adele had to return to her native Australia but very generously donated the trophy for the player of the year.
Other trophies awarded were: Best beginner, to Nancy Bibby, baritone. Most Improved Player - Sam Clarke on drums and the Highest Achievement Award went to Malcon Nicklen.
Malcom is an adult learner who started less than six months ago after recovering from a heart and double lung transplant. He took up the cornet as a beginner and now plays in the full training band. He has been told by the medical experts that his lung power has improved far greater than they would have thought. So maybe all those recovering after a lung transplant ought to take up a brass musical instrument.
